The Press-Gazette (Hillsboro, Ohio) was published on Tuesdays and Fridays in 1942. Most issues were 6 pages, though some were 12. News of the War and farm, dairy and poultry news comprised the top stories and two pages were usually devoted to social and personal news. A subscription was $2/year or three months for 50¢.

April 3, 1942: Lucy Wood (1870-1952, mother of Grace Long) entertained to dinner Sunday Homer Bohl (1897-1971), wife (Bessie 1897-1986) and daughter, Caryl Lou of New Vienna, Glenn Wood (1902-?) and son, Jimmy of Cincinnati, and Gleason Long (1911-1993) and wife. Glenn was Grace's older brother. Gleason and Grace Wood Long are the parents of Sue and Beth. Caryl Lou later married Harry G. Allen (1929-2008).
April 10, 1942: Obituary of Allen A. Curtis (1855-1942), father of Carrie Curtis Eaton (1892-1971), grandfather of Virginia Eaton Hildebrant (1917-2007) and Joe Eaton (1918-1968), great-grandfather of Janie Hildebrant Pidgeon among others. He was "survived by his widow, 11 children, 19 grandchildren and 14 great-children".
April 17, 1942: Military News - Corp. Elroid (sic) Collier (1915-2000), of Indiantown Gap, Pa., arrived Wednesday evening for a few days leave of absence, which he will spend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Collier, near Sinking Spring. Elroyd married Mabel Shoemaker (1916-2004) in 1945. They were the parents of Charlie and Carolyn. April 21, 1942: Obituary of Linda L. Burton, 10-day-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Burton, who died at her home near Careytown. Besides her parents she was survived by three brothers and one sister, David Allen (1932-2001), Robert Mitchell (1938-1990), Donald Lee (1940-2009) and Barbara Alice (1935-1984). She was pre-deceased by a brother Ronald (1934-1934). Hugh (1905-1967) and Sarah Shinkle Burton (1914-1984) were also the parents of Elaine, Hugh Jr., Dianne, Cynthia, Lydia, Aaron [and others between Linda and Elaine??]
